今回は長野県を飛び出し、六本木で開催された「La Galerie du 19M Tokyo」へ行ってきました！

「La Galerie du 19M Tokyo」は、CHANEL（シャネル）がその職人の技術と、伝統的な技巧の承継のためにパリに設立した複合施設「le19M」の展覧会で、この秋、東京で大規模に行われました。

2025年9月30日〜10月20日、森アーツセンターと東京シティビューにまたがって開催されたこの展覧会は「未知なるクリエイション、その先へ」と題されており、フランスの職人さんと日本の職人さんのコラボレーションによる、数々の新しいシナジーを目の当たりにすることができました。

今回、東京まで出かけたのは、この展覧会のアトリエブース（町屋）の一部に、木曽地域の伝統的工芸品の一つである「へぎ板」が採用されていることを知ったからです！

へぎ板とは木曽材木工芸品の一つで、天然のネズコ（針葉樹の1種）を木の繊維にそって手でうすく割き、網代（あじろ）に組む工芸品です。

こちらのへぎ板は、上松町に工房を構える「小林へぎ板店」小林鶴三さんの作品で、ご自身のキャリアで最大のものだとおっしゃっていました。

ブースの中は森のいい香りで満たされ、へぎ板がもつ特有のツヤが、網代の技法と相まってやわらかく照明を反射して光り、あたたかく、えも言われぬ存在感を放っていました。

木曽地域には、木を原材料とした工芸品が数多く存在します！
お気に入り工芸品を探して、歴史情緒あふれる木曽路を巡ってみてはいかがでしょう。

“Amazing craftsmanship encountered at La Galerie du 19M Tokyo”

Hello, this is Kibi.
This Autumn, I went to Tokyo to visit a special exhibition, La Galerie du 19M Tokyo, in Roppongi Hills Mori Tower!

Presented by Chanel, the exhibition showcased the remarkable synergy born from the collaboration between French and Japanese craftsmen.

The photo is of “Hegi-ita” which was used for one of the exhibition’s booths.
Hegi-ita is generally used for walls and ceilings of Japanese architecture.

Hegi-ita is thin strips of wood woven together and is one of the traditional wooden crafts of the Kiso area in Nagano Prefecture.
And its manufacturing method is particularly noteworthy; Hegi-ita is made by tearing Nezuko wood, a type of Japanese conifer, thinly along the natural wood grain, by hand!

This Hegi-ita wickerwork wall was made by Kobayashi Tsurumi, of Agematsu-machi Town, and he said that it’s the largest work of his career.
The surface of Hegi-ita has a gentle luster and reflects the light softly so it engenders a luxurious atmosphere! Part of its charm is that it changes color depending on the viewing angle!

The Kiso area has a long history of wooden crafts and lacquerwares.
