こんにちは、キビです。
木曽の山々が紅葉に彩られる時期になりました。今年もなんとか新米の季節を迎えられたので、稲刈りから脱穀までの様子を振り返ってみようと思います。

夏の暑さも落ち着きはじめ、ゆっくりしようと思っていた矢先に、田んぼの稲穂がやけに垂れていることに気がつきました。
青々として風に波打っていた稲が、いつの間にか生命力に満ちた金色に変わっています。

猛暑の影響か、例年より2週間も早い稲刈りとなりましたが、営農指導員さんの的確な指導のおかげで、倒伏する前に稲刈りを終えることができました！
天候によって都合よくいかないことも多いですが、刈り取り適期を逃さないことがとても大切です。

はざかけ（稲架掛け）は秋の実りを象徴する、木曽の美しい風景の一つです。
ですが、農村の高齢化もあり、個人個人の努力だけでは維持することが難しくなってきました。

はざかけから約3週間後、天日で干した稲をはざ（稲架）からはずして脱穀します。

この籾の一粒一粒が向こう一年間の糧となると考えると、感慨深いです。

ふと花壇に目を向けると、稲刈りの騒がしさから逃れたアマガエルが花の中で昼寝をしていました。
にぎやかだった畑も田んぼも収穫が終わり、静かになった里山は、いよいよ秋冬の到来です。

“A symbol of the joy of harvesting in autumn; Hazakake”

Hello, this is Kibi.
In early September, you can see golden grain clusters drooping from stalks in rice fields.
So it’s a sure sign rice is ready to harvest!

Harvested rice need to be dried in the sunlight by hanging them on a rack called Hazakake.
From the old days, people in the Kiso area have been keeping this custom and the scenery is a beautiful autumn symbol.
However it’s facing a crisis due to the aging society of the Kiso area.

About three weeks after Hazakake, we removed rice from the rack and threshed.
When we see the bags filled with freshly harvested rice, we feel joy and relief that six months of hard work in the rice fields has paid off.

A frog was taking a nap on a flower petal to escape the noise while we were working in the rice fields.
When the job was done, the quiet rice fields tell us winter is around the corner.
