Wealthier individuals would indulge in a rich, luxurious afternoon tea with sandwiches and cakes to accompany their drink. This is much like what we think of now when we consider “afternoon tea”. Now, while most people won’t indulge in it every day, people will get together with friends and/or family for afternoon tea once in a while and feast on all sorts of delicious sandwiches, cakes and biscuits! In fact, this is where the British tradition of dunking biscuits in tea came from!
